Appointment Scheduling

Patients are seen on a "by appointment" basis. Since most of our patients either work or are in school, it is not feasible for us to see everyone outside of work/school hours. We try to accommodate work and school schedules as much as is practical. However, at times it will be necessary to schedule your appointments during school/work times. We ask for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. While in orthodontic treatment, patients will usually be seen every four to eight weeks.

Broken/Lost Appliances

Should you have broken bands or brackets or a lost appliance, please call us. We will see you at the earliest possible time. If at all possible, please call us prior to coming in to the office so we can make your visit as efficient as possible.

We will certainly do what we need to do to make you comfortable. However, depending on the situation, we may have to schedule a future appointment to finish the needed repairs.

Emergencies

Although rare, emergencies do happen. In the event of an emergency or unusual discomfort, please contact us. If it is past normal office hours, the answering machine will give you a phone number to directly contact one of the doctors.

Late Appointments

We appreciate your effort to be on time for all appointments. This greatly enhances our ability to be on time for you and our other patients. If you are running late, please call to let us know so we can adjust our schedule as needed. If we are running late, please rest assured that it is because we are giving every patient our best effort and will do the same for you as soon as possible.

Late arrivals will be rescheduled only if absolutely necessary.

Oral Hygiene

Meticulous oral hygiene is of particular importance to prevent permanent staining and decay. We will work with you to toward this, but in the end it is a daily task and, therefore, your responsibility. We strongly recommend that all of our patients use a supplemental fluoride mouth-rinse or gel in addition to brushing and flossing. Brushes and toothpaste are always available for use prior to your appointment.

Sickness

For the health and consideration of our other patients, please avoid coming into the office when you are sick. We will give you the earliest possible appointment available in the event of cancellation due to illness. We may reappoint an ill patient if we feel their illness will place our other patients at risk.

Insurance

We have many patients with one or more varieties of orthodontic insurance. Our staff is happy to coordinate insurance filing for our patients. However, we do ask the following:

  1. Upon beginning treatment or changes in your coverage, please bring your insurance card to the office so we can make a copy for our records.
  2. Please read your policy book and/or talk to your benefits director to be fully aware of your benefits and any limitations or exclusions. This serves as verification of the information we receive when we contact your carrier and ensures that you get all the benefits you have paid for.

Insurance policies can be difficult to interpret at times. We will do all that we can to help you receive maximum benefits.

Thank you for entrusting us with your or your child's orthodontic care. We promise never to take that trust for granted. If you ever have any questions concerning our office policies or any aspect of your treatment, please do not hesitate to ask.
